At the March meeting, the Caroline County Board of Education made decisions regarding the current and next school year calendars.
2024-2025 Calendar - The current calendar has been amended to reflect 180 student days and 190 teacher work days, which makes June 17, 2025 (half-day) the last day of school for students.
Explanation:
• Four days were included in the current school year calendar for inclement weather. However, school was closed seven days due to inclement weather on January 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 21, and February 12, 2025.
• Amendments to the 2024-2025 SY calendar were approved at the February Board meeting to convert March 21 from a full day off for students for staff professional development to a half day for students and half day for staff professional development, April 16 to a full day for students, and April 17 from a day off to a half day.
• One additional snow day was used on February 12, 2025. In order for the calendar to reflect 180 student days, a day has been added to the end of year making the last day of school for students June 17, 2025 (half-day).
Superintendent Derek Simmons noted that it was too early to recommend declaring the last day of school, which usually occurs once the potential for winter weather has passed.
2025-2026 Calendar – The Board adopted a calendar for the 2025-2026 school year. The calendar may be found on the website in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole.
